The concept stage marks the exciting and imaginative beginning of any architectural project. It all starts with strong design, which lays the foundation for success. Take a look at some of our design concepts in their early stages of development.
The Plateau Hokitika
A unique residential development on the West Coast with BBA Superhomes, prioritising sustainability comfort, and connection with the landscape. Model homes, creating environmentally responsive homes with thoughtful layouts, and careful inserted to live “lightly on the land” and highlight natural solar benefits. Emphasis on energy efficiency, quality of life and engagement with the natural setting, aligning with project vision and broader Superhome Philosiphy
Beckenham Loop
Constraints of the narrow site with a north-south orientation influenced the simple bold gable form. Clever design maximises functionality and internal spaces for a young family to enjoy for decades to come. The efficient concept plan avoids waste space and reduces overall size to help fit the within the budget. The efficient design results in less use of materials/resources (embodied carbon) and much lower ongoing energy costs (operational carbon).
Cashmere Estate
This concept works hard to deliver a high-performance home within the desired budget. With 3 bedrooms, it achieves a 'Base' level specification with 'Better' level performance due to an optimised design and orientation. A double-height entry, skillion ceilings and generously proportioned east glazing in the open plan layout creates a light filled volume. Optimised north eaves provide summer shading, yet still allow the sun's warmth during winter.
Waiarohia Superhome
Whau Valley, Whangārei, near Waiarohia Stream. This Superhome concept is a fusion of traditional Japanese and modernist home architecture. Thoughtful manipulation of light and shade and variations of ceiling heights create delightful and super comfortable spaces.
Super Duper Duplex
Cranford Street, Christchurch. A concept for two semi-detached 3 Bedroom dwellings designed to entry level 'BASE' Superhome Standards. Affordable super energy-efficient healthy homes with triple glazing and optimised shading to prevent summer overheating.
Robinsons Bay Superhome
Nestled into a hill site in Banks Peninsula, this concept cleverly takes advantage of the incredible western views of Akaroa harbour while still offering protection from the late afternoon sun. High celestial windows let in the east morning sun while still offering privacy from the neighbours.
Westmorland Superhome
Evolving upon the design of Robinson's Bay, this concept takes advantage of western views while protecting its occupants from the late afternoon sun utilising large eaves, external roller shades, and a large feature schist stone wall. Downstairs, an inside swimming pool enclosed in triple glazed joinery offers the ultimate 'stay-cation' experience.
Wai Ahi Superhome
Water & fire. A secluded elevated site on Waiheke Island with waterfront views is the fantastic setting for 'Wai Ahi' a compact 110 square metre, off-grid, low-carbon, Superhome concept. Aiming to be energy-positive and carbon-negative, incorporating universal design philosophy the project reflects the future-focused vision and values of the owners.
